This adorable guy volunteered itself into captivity all by itself it was germinated from a lucky wild spore that just happened to land on the dish.

Why would you want a slime mold? Slime molds are very intelligent they’re able to solve mazes and other complex tasks that seem impossible for their size. They even surprise researchers with their ingenuity finding and creating short cuts around under and through the mazes instead of taking the long way around. Some people keep them as pets and make time lapse videos of the clever problem solving capabilities that these little guys seem to possess. If you leave them alone long enough they may even attempt to escape their habitat. As a pet they’re very low maintenance and like a wide variety of different food types they will travel towards foods that they like and away from foods that they don’t.
